Big West regular-season co-champs Hawai’i and UC Irvine are the top two seeds for the upcoming Big West Women’s Water Polo Tournament, April 26-28 at UC Irvine’s Anteater Aquatics Complex. In their first Big West season, the Rainbow Wahine earned the top seed while the defending Big West Tournament champion Anteaters are the two seed. San Diego State and Long Beach State round out the top half of the seed lines with Cal State Northridge, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis and Pacific completing the field.
BIG WEST COMPETITION
All eight teams continue to be recognized in the top-20 of the Collegiate Water Polo Association. UC Irvine in the lead at No. 6 with Hawai’i at seven, and San Diego State in No. 8. A total of 27 conference matches have determined the seeds for the Big West Tournament. Of the 27 matches, all but two have been won by 5 goals or less, 19 of 27 by four goals or less, 19 of 27 by 2 goals or less and a total of 10 were won by a single goal.
UC IRVINE HOSTS BIG WEST TOURNAMENT
The Anteaters will host this seasons post-season tournament at the Anteater Aquatics Complex, April 26-28th. All teams will earn a spot on in the post-season tournament, guaranteed three games across the three-day competition. This seasons bracket is attached with seeding placements for the first round filled in.
