UC Irvine center Adam Folker (Markham, Ontario, Canada/Markham District HS) averaged a double-double in two victories to capture Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors.
The 6-9 senior averaged 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds as the Anteaters defeated Big West foe Pacific (68-59) and knocked off UT Arlington (77-70) to extend their winning streak to four in a row.
Folker notched 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and fifth of his career in the win over the Tigers. He made 6 of 11 from the field in 32 minutes, helping UCI improve to 8-0 at home in Big West games this season.
The Anteaters traveled to UT Arlington for a Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters game Saturday, as Folker scored 16 points and added seven rebounds with a career-high tying five assists in the seven-point win. He canned 7 of 8 floor attempts in 33 minutes of action.
Folker shot 68.4 (13 of 19) percent from the field in the two wins. He tops the Big West in field goal percentage at .581.
