The No. 13 UC Santa Barbara women's water polo (9-3) split its two games on Saturday at the UCSD Triton Invite, which were held at Triton Pool. The Gauchos dominated Cal State Bakersfield (1-7), 11-3, before suffering a tough loss to No. 6 UC Irvine (6-2), 14-10.


No. 7 San Diego State Beats SCU, LBSU at Triton Invitational

The Aztecs beat Santa Clara in their first game, 12-9, before returning to Canyonview Aquatic Center to down Long Beach State, 7-6, in overtime.


No. 17 Cal State Northridge Falls To No. 2 USC, 9-2

The Matadors, ranked 17th in the nation, kept the game close for two periods, but the Trojans outscored CSUN, 4-0, in the third period en route to a 9-2 victory.


CSUN Defeats Hartwick, 13-12

Cal State Northridge fought back from a two-goal deficit in the final 3:58 of the game to post a 13-12 victory over Hartwick College (Onenota, NY) in first round play at the UCSD Invitational.

The women's water polo team splits a pair of games at day one of the Triton Invitational sinking No. 11 Michigan 8-6 but dropped a thrilling game to No. 7 San Diego State 7-6 in overtime. Chelsea Parks and Claire Martin led the 49ers (1-1) with three goals each while Kelly Ringel recorded 16 saves to wrap up the first two games of 2013.


Top-Ranked Stanford Dispatches Aggies, 15-4
