Kendall Kenyon (Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's HS) just missed on the first triple-double in Pacific history, but the sophomore helped the Tigers move into a tie for the conference top spot in garnering Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-2 center dominated in Saturday's 60-51 victory against Cal State Northridge, finishing with 19 points, a career-high 22 rebounds and eight blocked shots. She became the first Tiger in 22 years to corral more than 20 rebounds, and her 22 boards tied for the sixth-most in Pacific history.
In addition, the eight swats set a school record while tying for the most in a Big West game and ranking as the fifth-most in Division I this season.
Kenyon also contributed 12 points, six rebounds and four blocks in a 71-61 triumph against Hawai’i.
For the week, Kenyon averaged 15.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks while shooting 54.2 (13 of 24) percent from the field and 83.3 (5 of 6) percent at the line. Her season numbers of 12.2 points and a Big West leading 10.8 rebounds per game makes Kenyon just one of 39 players to average a double-double this season.
Others nominated: Kayla Griffin (Cal Poly); Alex Thomas (Cal State Fullerton); Devin Hudson (Long Beach State); Tre'Shonti Nottingham (UC Riverside); Kamilah Martin (Hawai’i)
