UC Davis sophomore Corey Hawkins (Goodyear, Ariz./Arizona State) broke the school single-game scoring record and helped the Aggies to a conference road sweep in earning Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.

The 6-3 guard erupted for 40 points to lead the Aggies past Hawai’i in a 93-82 decision Saturday. He broke a 34-year old UC Davis scoring record with the outburst and handed the Rainbow Warriors their first Big West home loss in the process.

Hawkins made 10 of 14 floor shots, including an incredible 8 of 9 from three-point territory.  He also drained 12 consecutive free throw attempts in the final 1:53 of the game to stave off any UH comeback attempt.

The 40 points is the most by a Big West player since Cal State Fullerton's Josh Akognon scored 41 twice during the 2008-09 season.  Hawkins came up one point shy of tying a record for most points by an opponent at the Stan Sheriff Center, and tied an individual record for most threes by a UH opponent in a single game.

Hawkins also aided the Aggies in a 74-71 victory against Cal State Northridge Saturday with 17 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals.  He made all but one of his seven free throw attempts as UCD defeated CSUN at The Matadome for the first time since Nov. 22, 1986 when both programs competed on the Division II level.

Hawkins, who made 18 of 19 free throws for the week, leads the Big West and ranks No. 7 in the NCAA with a .916 free throw percentage.  He has made 98 of 107 from the line this season.

For the week, Hawkins averaged 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals.  He shot 57.7 (15 of 26) percent from the field and 75.0 (9 of 12) percent at the charity stripe.
