Cal State Northridge sophomore Ashlee Guay (San Diego, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) notched a game-high 20 points in a season-opening win over Portland to claim the first Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the 2012-13 campaign.

The 5-7 guard accounted for 11 of her 20 points in the second half to help the Matadors outscore the Pilots 41-18 in the eventual 70-61 triumph.  Guay chipped in three rebounds, six assists and three steals in 36 minutes of action to help CSUN win its opener for the second straight year.

The 20 points were just three short of her career high.

Guay, a member of the Preseason All-Big West Conference Team, made a career-high nine field goals – in 16 attempts – and drained a pair of three-pointers.  She also secured her 12th career double-figure point game.

Others nominated: Molly Schlemer (Cal Poly); Tailer Butler (Cal State Fullerton); Chantel Dooley (Long Beach State); Jennifer Tsurumoto (UC Irvine); Tre'Shonti Nottingham (UC Riverside); Kendall Kenyon (Pacific)
