Hawai'i junior Emily Hartong was recognized as the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week for her efforts in a pair of women's volleyball road victories against Long Beach State and UC Irvine.

Hartong had a monstrous week with averages of 6.89 kills, 3.44 digs and 0.22 blocks per set as the Rainbow Wahine downed the 49ers (3-1) and Anteaters (3-2) in two intense matches.  She hit a solid .297 (62-15-158) for the week and set career-highs in kills and digs in the process.

In a match televised on FOX Prime Ticket, Hartong pounded a career-high 33 kills to subdue the 49ers in four games after UH suffered a loss in the first set.  She hit .329 (33-7-79) against the 49ers and added 15 digs in the triumph.

Against the Anteaters, Hartong delivered five of her 29 kills in the decisive fifth set as the Rainbow Wahine again came from behind, rallying from a 2-1 deficit.  The 6-2 outside hitter chipped in a career-high 16 digs to secure her sixth double-double of the season.  She added two service aces and two blocks to complete an all-around performance.

Hartong, who was named the Big West Player of the Week for the third time this season, leads the Big West in kills (4.60 kpg) and ranks eighth in hitting percentage (.274).

Her performance enabled UH to improve to 19-2 overall and remain perfect in the Big West at 12-0.
