The 49er’s return home to host conference rival, UC Irvine, Saturday October 20 at 7 pm PT.  Long Beach (4-2-0) is currently one game back from the Anteaters (4-1-1), and will look to snag the number two seed with a victory Saturday night.

Last season the Anteaters captured the 2011 regular season champion title, while the 49er’s, for the second year in a row, managed to claim the Big West conference tournament title with a pair of defeats over UC Irvine.

Cal Poly Looks to Remain Undefeated
Cal Poly continues it’s hot streaking going 1-0-1 last week at home against Cal State Northridge (2-2, 2OT) and Hawai’i (5-2).  With an 5-0-1 conference record, this is the best start for the Mustang’s since 2002 when they went 5-0 to start.

Cal Poly will hit the road and face UC Riverside (10/19) and Cal State Fullerton (10/21) this week.  The Titans are on a four-game winning streak, looking to be the team to beat top-competitor in Cal Poly.

Long Beach State’s senior Nadia Link is within reach of both school and conference career records in her final season.  Link has a total 31 career goals thus far, ranking her third in the 49er all-time record book and just four goals shy of breaking into the Big West career top-10 list.  Link has 19 assist overall, just two shy of the top-10 and with a total 81-career points, she is just eight points shy to be in the record book.

Cal State Northridge goalkeeper, Cynthia Jacobo has recorded 261 saves over her career, just 2 shy of Big West top-ten recognition and 22 shutouts, placing her tenth in Big-West all-time career shutouts. Jacobo already sat in the ninth spot for overall career goalie minutes, now moved up to seventh with a total 5,482 career minutes in the goal.
