Henry, Barak Notch Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

UC Davis junior Alex Henry and Cal State Northridge senior Yuval Barak were selected the Big West Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their clutch play.

Henry Scores Game-Winner Against No. 8 UC Santa Barbara

UC Davis junior Alex Henry claimed Big West Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week recognition for the second straight week with his 85th-minute goal that upended No. 8 UC Santa Barbara.

Henry lined up a free kick on the right wing, then curled it into the upper left corner of the goal for the clincher.  It was the first win over UCSB for the Aggies since 2008 and the first against the Gauchos on Aggie Soccer Field since 2006.

Henry had two shots on goal for the match.  His 46th minute attempt was turned away by UCSB goalkeeper Austin Mansker.

Others nominated:  Mackenzie Pridham (Cal Poly); Rene Anguiano (Cal State Northridge); Enrique Cardenas (UC Irvine)

Barak Assists On Both Matador Goals In Key Win

Cal State Northridge senior Yuval Barak collected both assists in a key 2-1 victory against UC Riverside, earning him Big West Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Barak played all 103-plus minutes in the double overtime triumph.  He set up Northridge's first goal in the 48th minute as his pass to Chris Smith was on target.

In the 104th minutes, Barak served a corner kick into the box that found Rene Anguiano for the golden goal.  Barak now has five assists on the season.

UCR's only goal came by way of a penalty kick.

The win lifted Northridge's Big West record to 4-1 with 12 points overall.  The Matadors lead everyone else in the South Division by at least nine points as the conference season has reached the midway point.

Others nominated:  Omar Zeenni (UC Davis)
