Long Beach State Sweeps Women's Soccer Weekly Awards
Long Beach State junior Eileen Maes and freshman Marrina Meyers guided their team to a road sweep of UC Davis and Pacific to capture Big West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Maes Nets Pair of Game-Winning Goals
Junior Eileen Maes notched both game-winning goals for Long Beach State to garner Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Maes helped the 49ers to road wins against UC Davis (1-0) and Pacific (2-0) as they improved to 11-5-0 overall and 4-2-0 in Big West play. She scored on two of her four shots on frame while increasing her team-high total in goals to eight.
Against UC Davis, Maes struck at the 77:02 mark to break a scoreless tie. Against Pacific, Maes knocked in the eventual game-winning in the 31st minute. She connected on a header, placing the ball inside the right post on an indirect free kick into the box.
For the week, Maes topped Long Beach State in goals (2), points (4) and shots on goal (4). Four of her eight goals this season have come during Big West action.

Meyers Picks Up Pair of Shutouts
Freshman goalkeeper Marrina Meyers posted a pair of clean sheets to be selected the Big West Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
She notched her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season as the 49ers topped both UC Davis (1-0) and Pacific (2-0).
Against the Aggies, she made five saves, the biggest of which came in the 65th minute when she swatted away a penalty kick attempt. LBSU eventually scored in the 78th minute for the game-winner. Meyers has stopped two of four penalty kick shots this season.
Against the Tigers, Meyers was part of a stingy defensive line that allowed just one shot on goal for the match. Pacific had just seven total shots in the contest.
