Cal State Fullerton senior Kayla Neto earned Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors after leading her team to a sweep of UC Irvine and Long Beach State. The win over the 49ers snapped a 59-match, 30-year losing streak to LBSU.
Neto tied a season high with 27 kills in a come-from-behind five-set victory over UC Irvine. She added 19 digs, a service ace and four blocks while hitting .273 (27-6-77) for the match.
Against the 49ers, Neto led the Titans in kills (17) and digs (22) again to record her eighth straight match with a double-double. She swung at a .244 (17-6-45) clip for the contest.
For the week, Neto averaged 4.89 kills, 4.56 digs and 0.44 blocks per set while hitting .262 (44-12-122). The Titans are tied for third in the Big West at 4-3.
