Women's Soccer Conference Play Began With Multiple First-Career Goals

This Week in the Big West - October 1-7, 2012
Lots of celebrating was due for the five players that recorded their first-career goals to start conference play off right last week.
Pacific dropped their first conference matchup against Cal Poly in a 4-1 loss, but Kortney Agdeppa saved the Tiger’s from a shutout with her goal. Agdeppa recorded her first-career goal as a senior with an assist by Marcela Padilla.
Long Beach State split in the conference opening weekend with four 49er’s collecting first-career goals. In a 5-1 victory to start league play, Kristyn Benavidez, Renee Mendiola and Kassidy Hause all scored firsts against UC Riverside last week. While freshman Hannah Sanders collected her first-career goal in a 2-1 loss against Cal State Fullerton.
Climbing In Numbers
Long Beach State’s senior Nadia Link is within reach of both school and conference career records in her final season. Link has a total 29 career goals thus far, ranking her third in the 49er all-time record book and just six goals shy of breaking into the Big West career top-10 list. Link has 17 assist overall, just three shy of the top-10 and with a total 75-career points, she is just 14 points shy in the record book.
Cal State Northridge goalkeeper, Cynthia Jacobo has recorded 243 saves over her career, just 20 shy of Big West top-10 recognition and 21 shutouts, placing her tenth in Big-West all-time career shutouts. Jacobo already sat in the ninth spot for overall career goalie minutes, now moved up one spot with a total 5,102 career minutes in the goal.
