Senior Kayla Neto (Clarksburg, Calif./Christian Brothers HS) starred for Cal State Fullerton in a pair of five-set road battles to capture Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-2 outside hitter/middle blocker contributed in all facets with weekly averages of 4.30 kills, 3.70 digs and 1.10 blocks per set while swinging at a clip of .250 (43-11-128).
Neto produced 16 kills, 21 digs and seven blocks in a heartbreaking setback to the Tigers on Friday. The Titans led 2-1 in the match after holding the Tigers to below .150 hitting in sets two and three, but her seventh double-double of the season was not enough.
The Titans delivered their first Big West win of the year in Saturday's five-set marathon against UC Davis. Neto provided a sound all-around effort with a match and season-high 27 kills to go along with 16 digs, four blocks and a service ace. She hit .253 (27-8-75) for the match and played a big role in the comeback win as the Titans hit .289 and .308 in the decisive fourth and fifth sets, respectively.
Neto's 27-kill, 16-dig stat line also represented her eighth double-double of the 2012 campaign.
