UCSB ON THREE STREAK
UC Santa Barbara collected a pair of wins last week for their third-consecutive win thus far.  The last time the Gauchos were able to win three in a row was in 2010 in their first three home games of the season.

The Gauchos improve to 3-3-1 with just a week left of non-conference matchups.  The two non-conference games will be played against ranked opponents, No. 20 Pepperdine (9/21) and No. 16/25 San Diego State (9/23) before going into league play against UC Davis (9/28).

SENIOR STANDOUTS RECEIVE NCAA HONOR
The NCAA announced candidates of the 2012 Senior CLASS Award, with Big West representatives Alex Balcer from Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge’s Cynthia Jacobo chosen as two of 30 female candidates.

Balcer is in her third season leading the 49ers from the backfield, with two goals and 10 shots in the 2012 season.  The instrumental defender is a biology-psysiology major and two-time Big West All-Academic selection.

Jacobo will graduate with a degree in Sociology and hopes to work in law enforcement.  The league leading goalkeeper holds the best goals-against-average (0.52) and save percentage (.925), both ranked nationally in NCAA Division I stats.

PUTTING IN EXTRA TIME
Twenty-three total games have gone into extra minutes, and 12 of those have gone into double-overtime, with all but two conference teams contributing thus far.  Hawai’i has recorded four total overtime matches while recording a 2-0-2 record in extra play.  The Highlander’s match Hawai’i’s total while winning two in overtime and finishing even draw in two double-overtime matches.

Long Beach State lost their first match in overtime last week in a 3-2 loss to Texas Tech on the road.  Long Beach has played in four OT matches with a 3-1-0 record.

Cal State Northridge and UC Davis have all competed in three overtime matches, UCSB and Cal State Fullerton have recorded two, and both Cal Poly has played in one.
