Pacific junior Megan Birch (Monroe, Wash./Monroe HS) pieced together three consecutive impressive performances to lead her team to the tournament title of the Marquette Invitational, garnering her Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-1 outside hitter paced the Tiger attack as she led the squad in kills in victories over Iowa, Marquette and Milwaukee. She pounded a career-best 23 kills in a five-set win over the Golden Eagles, which resided just outside the top 25 nationally prior to the weekend's competition.
Birch began the tournament with 20 kills and a .264 (20-6-53) hitting percentage in a four-set win against Iowa. She was at her most efficient in the tournament finale against Milwaukee, hitting at a .326 clip with 19 kills and just four errors in 46 swings.
Pacific is off to an 11-1 start this season with eight of those victories taking place on the road.
