Student Spotlight: Cal Poly's Meghan Breadmore

9/11/2012

In 2011, Cal Poly's Meghan Breadmore had a freshman year to remember.  At the Big West Conference Championship, the San Diego, Calif., native finished second on the team and fourth at the event with a time of 20:42.80.  At the NCAA Cross Country Regionals, she finished 17th in the 6K with a time of 20:47, earning her U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region distinction for her efforts.  Breadmore, along with teammate Leanne Fogg, picked up postseason bids to the NCAA Cross Country Championship, marking the first time that an individual or team from the Cal Poly women’s program had advanced to the NCAA Division I Championship since the Mustangs made the jump in 1994.

We are just two weeks away from the 2012 Big West Cross Country Championship where Breadmore looks to have another impressive showing.  This year's championship takes place on the same course
as last year (UCR Ag/Ops Course) where she posted a top five finish.  In final preparation for the upcoming championship, Cal Poly will showcase a split squad with athletes competing at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and their home event the Cal Poly Invitational.
