UC Santa Barbara's Boateng Named "Freshman To Watch"

Top UC Santa Barbara men's soccer recruit Ema Boateng was named one of the nation's top 10 "Freshmen To Watch" by Top Drawer Soccer Tuesday.

Boateng, the Gatorade Player of the Year who scored 32 goals and added 19 assists his senior season at Cate School, bolsters a UCSB offense that lost top two scorers Luis Silva and Sam Garza to Major League Soccer.  A native of Ghana, Boateng helped the Rams to a 20-2-1 record and the CIF Southern Section Division VII Championship while claiming Southern Section Division VII Player of the Year honors.

UCSB begins the season on Sunday, Aug. 26 at Loyola Marymount.
