Central Coast rivals Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara will square off for the Big West Men's Tennis Championship on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.  The top two seeds in the bracket last met in the title match in 2007.

Top-seeded Cal Poly upended No. 5 seed UC Davis, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Big West Men's Tennis Championship to reach the finals for the third time in program history.

The Mustangs face No. 2 seed UC Santa Barbara in the championship match at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.  It is the second time the two rivals have met in the championship, the first being in 2007.

Cal Poly sprinted out to an early 1-0 lead by capturing the doubles point.  Jurgen DeJager and Marco Comuzzo defeated Chris Aria and Alec Haley, 8-4, at the No. 3 position to clinch the point.

In singles, Mustang junior Andre Dome posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Toki Sherbakov at No. 1.  Cal Poly extended the advantage to 3-0 when Sebastian Bell defeated Josh Albert by a 6-1, 6-3 score.

The Mustangs ended the match at No. 5 where Comuzzo toppled Haley 6-2, 6-4.

Cal Poly improves to 14-7 on the year while UC Davis finished its season 6-16.

UC Santa Barbara looks to capture its first men's tennis tournament title since 2009 after defeating UC Irvine, 4-2, in the Big West semifinals Sunday.  The Gauchos are appearing in the championship match for the seventh time in the last 10 years.

It was a hard fought back-and-forth match which began with UC Irvine claiming the doubles point.  The Anteaters swept at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions with Fabian Matthews and Shuhei Shibahara defeating Ziad Sultan and Sasha Gryaznov, 8-5, to earn the point.

Sultan returned in singles to knot the match at 1-1 as he breezed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jon Kazarian at No. 4.  In the No. 5 position, Gryaznov downed Shibahara 6-2, 6-2 as the Gauchos took a 2-1 lead.

UCI evened the match at 2-2 when Sam Gould notched a 7-5, 6-4 win against Benjamin Recknagel.

However, the Gauchos legged out a couple of tight matches at opposite ends of the ladder.  Mathieu Forget topped No. 91 Fabian Matthews 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 1 and Max Glenn solidified the team victory with his 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (4) over Ryan Cheung.

UCSB moved to 14-9 on the season and UCI concluded its season at 7-17.
