The 49ers attempt to win their eighth tournament title in the last nine years and ninth overall when they take on an old nemesis in UC Irvine at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.  The two teams are no strangers to each other as they have met in the finals at Indian Wells six times in the previous eight seasons.  LBSU is 5-1 in championship matchups with UCI.

LBSU captured the doubles point to stake a 1-0 lead.  Anais Dallara and Klaudia Malenovska were 8-2 victors against Sofia Novak and Erica Cano in clinching the point.

Success at the top of the singles lineup propelled the 49ers into the finals.  Dallara whitewashed Novak 6-0 6-0 at No. 1 and Rachel Manasse followed close behind with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Natalia Lozano.

UCSB's Jordan Dockendorf briefly interrupted LBSU's rhythm with her 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 5 singles versus Malenovska.

However, LBSU freshman Laura Bernard stomped out any additional comeback attempts as she defeated April Scatliffe 6-4, 6-1 to seal the match and improve her team's record to 17-5.  UCSB concluded the season 11-14.
