Andrew Thurman Dominates Diamond With No-Hitter

Andrew Thurman became the fifth Anteater in program history to hurl a no-hitter as the sophomore went the distance to lead UCI to a 4-0 win over Long Beach State Friday at Blair Field. It is the second consecutive year that the Anteaters have no-hit the Dirtbags in the opening game of the series as 2011 Big West Pitcher of the Year, Matt Summers, accomplished the feat May 27, 2011.

A scary moment turned into the right moment for the UC Santa Barbara baseball team on Friday night vs. Pacific. Batting with two out in the ninth, Lance Roenicke took a two-strike pitch off the chin. Although he walked to the dugout under his own power, Roenicke was replaced at first by Joe Lent.

Michael Lorenzen and Anthony Hutting each had two hits and an RBI at the plate in support of righty Dylan Floro's strong eight inning performance on the mound as No. 12 Cal State Fullerton defeated visiting Cal Poly, 6-1, in the first game of a Big West Conference series at Goodwin Field.
