Long Beach State senior Anais Dallara and Pacific junior Alex Golding succeeded against opponents from ranked squads to garner Big West Women's and Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, respectively.
Dallara Leads Long Beach State To Pair Of Wins Against Ranked Opponents
Senior Anais Dallara (Valbonne, France/College De L'egandaude) propelled Long Beach State to a pair of wins over ranked opponents to earn the Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week award.
Dallara helped the 49ers seal the 4-3 victory over No. 55 Sacramento State after edging Tatsiana Kapshai 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position. She teamed with Klaudia Malenovska to provide the clinching doubles point at the No. 2 spot, defeating the Hornet tandem of Clarisse Baca and Maria Meliuk, 8-6. Baca and Meliuk comprise the No. 4 ranked team in the Northwest Region.
The senior picked up her second singles win of the week in a 5-2 team triumph over No. 63 UC Irvine that improved Long Beach State’s conference record to a perfect 5-0. Dallara outlasted Kristina Smith 6-2, 6-7 (2), 10-6 to avenge an earlier doubles loss to Smith and Franziska Goettsching.

Golding Ekes Out Close Match In Singles
Pacific junior Alex Golding (London, England/University of Utah) won both his singles and doubles matches against opponents from No. 40-ranked Brigham Young to capture Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Although the Tigers dropped both of their matches to No. 46 New Mexico (6-1) and BYU (5-2), Golding impressed against the Cougars. He won two tiebreakers against Cougar counterpart Keaton Cullimore, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) at No. 4 singles, and combined with Ivan Castro to down No. 1 BYU duo Gregory Batrakov and Patrick Kawka, 8-3. Golding competed solidly but fell to New Mexico’s Conor Berg 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
