Long Beach State's Ware Captures Fourth Men's Basketball Weekly Award

Casper Ware (Cerritos, Calif./Gahr HS) collected his fourth Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor after record setting performances in two Long Beach State victories.

Ware exploded for a career-high 38 points to lead the 49ers to a 74-66 win at Pacific on Thursday.  He tied a school record with eight three-pointers made (in 15 attempts) and made 12 of 23 floor shots overall.  The 38 points tied for the seventh-most all-time by a 49er and was the most by a Big West player this season.

In a 89-69 win at UC Davis on Saturday, Ware dished out two assists to become Long Beach State’s career leader with 509.  He also solidified his place in the Big West career top 10.

Ware finished the game with 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting, including 3 of 7 from three-point distance.

For the week, Ware averaged 27.0 points and 3.5 rebounds while making 52.8% (18 of 34) from the field, 50.0% from three-point territory (11 of 22) and 87.5% (7 of 8) at the free throw line.

The senior guard now has six career Big West Player of the Week awards, tying him for third all-time in league history.
