Senior starter for Cal State Northridge, Jasmine Erving takes her second Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor this season after scoring a total of 58 points last week, including a career-high 36 points against UC Irvine. The Santa Ana native has been awarded five Big West Conference Player of the Week honors in her career.
The six-foot-two center led the Matadors last week in a pair of road wins with two double-doubles, for a total of 11 on the season. At UC Riverside, Erving helped the Matadors rally from a 14-point deficit scoring 22 points, while grabbing 10 of her 11 total rebounds in the second half for a 64-58 victory over the Highlanders. Two days later she scored a career-high 36 points going 16-for-22 from the field, with 10 boards and four assists in the 80-51 win over UC Irvine.
Erving continues to climb the charts in both conference and team standings with a career record of 1,428 points, the second highest in Matador history. With 136 career-blocks, she is also just one block shy to set a new school career record for blocks.
For the week, Erving scored 58 points going 26-of-39 from the field with 21 rebounds and 6 assists.
