T.J. Robinson (West Haven, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral HS) captured Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors on the strength of a pair of double-doubles that also vaulted the Long Beach State senior into the top spot on the school’s career rebounding list.

Robinson corraled career rebound No. 897 during Long Beach State’s 72-62 victory against Boise State on Tuesday.  That eclipsed the previous benchmark of 896 held by Francois Wise (1976-80).  The 6-8 forward hauled in 13 rebounds on the night to go along with 18 points in the home win.  Robinson also shot 8 of 9 from the field.

In a 73-71 loss at Montana on Saturday, Robinson had another big game with 25 points and 13 rebounds.  It was the third straight game that he had grabbed exactly 13 boards.  The performance pushed his career rebounding total to 919, putting him at No. 5 in the Big West record book.  Robinson, who made 7 of 11 shots from the field against the Grizzlies, also shined at the free throw line with success in all but one of his 12 attempts.  He entered the game just 5 of 12 from the charity stripe for the season.

For the week, Robinson shot 75.0 percent (15 of 20) from the field while averaging 21.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game.

Others nominated:  David Hanson (Cal Poly); Josh Ritchart (UC Davis); Orlando Johnson (UC Santa Barbara)
