Senior Jasmine Erving led Cal State Northridge to the 2011 Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic championship. For her efforts, she received the Matadors' first Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of the new season.
Erving recorded double-doubles in both contests, increasing her season total to four and career total to 17. In the game one victory over Colgate, the Santa Ana, Calif., native paced the Matadors with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She also tabbed three steals and one block.
In the champioship game against West Virginia, a 48-47 victory, Erving posted a game-high 13 rebounds and 10 points to claim the title of the Matadors' home event. The win over the Mountaineers marked the first CSUN victory against a BIG EAST school and it gave the Matadors' their fourth victory in the month of November, a first since the 1998-99 season.
For the week, Erving averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds per contests, while shooting .417 from the field and 1.00 from the charity stripe.
