Cal Poly's Jonae Ervin has started off the 2011-12 season with a bang, firing a career-high 33 points in the Mustangs' season-opener against Oregon, earning her this year's first Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week accolade.
In the Mustangs 102-93 loss to Pac-12's Oregon Ducks, the sophomore point guard shot 10-of-13 (.846) from the floor, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range, and 6-of-10 from the free throw line for a total of 33 points, to lead all players. Ervin's previous career-high was 19 points. Hailing from Brea, Calif., she also tied a career-best six rebounds while adding two assists to her total.
