Freshman Casey Hinger was a standout for the Cal State Northridge Matadors last week, leading them to a pair of sweeps to move to a tie for second place in the Big West standings. For her efforts, Hinger becomes the first freshman to collect Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season.

In Cal State Northridge's 3-0 victory over UC Davis, Hinger registered 12 kills in 16 errorless swings for an astonishing .750 hitting percentage. The Fullerton, Calif., native also added four total blocks and one ace and one dig to her nightly total.

Against the Tigers the following evening, she notched 11 kills and a .364 hitting clip, while recording seven total blocks and a pair of aces and digs.

In the two matches, the middle blocker averaged 3.83 kills and a team-high 1.83 blocks per set while hitting .526.
