Maly-Karros Grabs UC Irvine's Second Straight Weekly Honor

A pair of double-doubles earns UC Irvine's Mikah Maly-Karros her first Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors. This marks the third weekly accolade of her career.

Maly-Karros led the Anteaters to victories over Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State, lifting UC Irvine to a perfect 3-0 in Big West play. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native started the week with a season-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in the 70-65 win over the Titans. The junior forward recorded 14 of her points in 17 minutes of action against the Titans to lift the Anteaters to a 35-31 halftime lead.

She followed that up with her third consecutive double-double, registering 25 points and 10 boards in the 77-59 win over Long Beach State. Maly-Karros was nearly unstoppable against the Forty-Niners shooting .769 (10-of-13) from the floor, while hitting 4-for-4 from the free throw line. She also recorded two blocks in 32 minutes of action versus Long Beach.

For the week, Maly-Karros averaged 25.5 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting .576 from the floor. She increased her league-best double-doubles tally to 10 on the season. The Anteaters improve to 11-4 overall, the first time UCI has recorded double-figure wins since the 2002-03 squad went 17-12.
