Following a performance that assisted Cal State Fullerton in posting a 2-0 mark in conference play last week, freshman Kayla Neto (Clarksburg, Calif./Christian Brothers HS) collected her second Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honor of the season. Neto's award is Cal State Fullerton's third of the season with Erin Saddler also picking up a nod back on Sept. 21.
In Friday night's 3-1 win over first place UC Davis, Neto tied her career-high in kills with 19. She hit .400 on the night, committing just three errors in 40 swings. She also added a pair of aces, four digs and two blocks in the win.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker/outside hitter then went out on Saturday night and topped her career best in kills, blasting 22 in just 32 swings. She had just four miscues and hit .562 on the night as the Titans upended visiting Pacific, to split the season series with the Tigers.
Neto hit .472 on the weekend and connected for 4.56 kills per set as the Titans won their second and third straight matches for the first time since opening the season with six straight victories.
