Pacific’s Starke Extends Singles Streak To Five Straight

Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany/Forsyth Country Day) collected his second Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award this season with continued production from the No. 1 singles position. He defeated his fifth straight opponent and improved to 10-5 on the season in dual matches.
Starke's 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win against Michael Caldwell of Yale clinched the 4-3 team victory for the Tigers on St. Patrick's Day. He also teamed with Renan Delsin at No. 1 doubles to topple Connor Dawson and Caldwell, 8-2.
Starke is 10-4 in dual doubles action this season.
The play of the Tigers' top performer has helped elevate the team to an Intercollegiate Tennis Association national ranking of No. 58.

Cal Poly's Matzenauer Goes Undefeated In Singles and Doubles

Suzie Matzenauer (Tacoma, Wash./Northwestern) earned Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades after posting a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles.
Matzenauer extended her winning streak in singles to five straight matches, all in straight sets. Competing at No. 1 singles, she defeated Dartmouth's Molly Scott by a 6-1, 6-4 score to help the Mustangs secure a 6-1 team victory on Friday. Her most impressive victory came a day later when she won 7-5, 6-4 against Pepperdine's Alexandria Walters at the No. 2 singles position. Walters had defeated the nation's No. 22 ranked player, USC's Sarah Fansler, a week earlier.
Partnering with Amy Markhoff at No. 2 doubles, Matzenauer produced a pair of victories in tiebreaker fashion to move to 12-2 on the season in duals. They won 8-7 (7) against Jesse Adler and Carissa King of Dartmouth, and had an 8-7 (6) triumph against Walters and Anne-Christine Voicu of Pepperdine.
