Cal Poly received impressive performances from the Big West Men's and Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week as junior Brittany Blalock defeated the nation's No. 8 ranked singles player while freshman Andre Dome went 2-0 at No.1 singles against conference opposition from UC Riverside and UC Irvine.
Cal Poly's Blalock Defeats Nationally Ranked Top 10 Singles Player

Brittany Blalock (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS) recorded the school's first-ever victory over a nationally-ranked top 10 singles player to earn her third career Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor.
Blalock faced No. 8 Maria Sanchez of USC and picked up Cal Poly's only point of the match with her 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 victory at the No. 2 position. The win helped Blalock enter the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings at No. 78 this week.
She also earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over UC Riverside's Donna McCullough and teamed with Steffi Wong to win 8-2 over Angelique Corpuz and Erynne Oki at No. 2 doubles. Blalock has earned five straight singles victories and won nine of her last 10 matches. Blalock is 7-1 on the year at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles slots.
Cal Poly's Dome Picks Up Two Wins Against Big West Opponents

Andre Dome (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grande HS) took down the No. 1 players from UC Riverside and UC Irvine to garner his second Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award this season.
Dome improved to 5-4 on the season in singles with his 6-1, 6-0 triumph over UC Riverside's Gorjan Kovacevic and 7-5, 6-1 victory against UC Irvine's Wes Miller. He also collected a win at No. 1 doubles with partner Andrew Gerst, defeating the Highlander duo of Quoc Doan and Felix Macherez, 8-2.
The victory against Miller scored the only point for the Mustangs against UC Irvine. Cal Poly earned a 6-1 win versus UC Riverside.
Dome is 3-5 overall in doubles this season.
