UC Santa Barbara's Dolan Named West Region Coach of the Year

UC Santa Barbara head coach Pete Dolan has been named the West Region Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year it was announced today.

The Gauchos were one of the biggest surprises of the 2006 season, jetting to seventh in the national rankings. UCSB won the Big West title and finished second to defending NCAA champion Stanford at the West Regional. The Gauchos also won the Roy Griak Invitational, finished fourth at Pre-Nations and had Lauren Christman named Big West Athlete of the Year. Dolan, the UCSB coach since 1988, has been named Big West Coach of the Year in three of the last four seasons.

Dolan and UC Santa Barbara will be in action for the last time during the 2006 campaign Monday as they will compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The squad received an automatic bid to the meet after finishing second at the West Regional.
