UCSB's Armel and Cal Poly's Cisco Named Track Athletes of the Week
Utah State's Sides and Cal Poly's Wagner Named Field Athletes of the Week

UC Santa Barbara junior Ben Armel (Alta Loma, Calif.) was named Big West Male Track Athlete of the Week. The Gaucho distance runner finished fourth in the 800 meter race at the Stanford Cardinal Invitational with a season-best time of 1:48.00. His mark is the fastest among Big West athletes this season and ranks No. 2 all-time in UCSB history. Cal Poly junior Willimena Cisco (Sacramento, Calif.) was named Big West Female Track Athlete of the Week. The Mustang sprinter took first place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.89 at the Fresno State 3-way meet. Cisco mark qualified her for the NCAA Regionals and ranks No. 1 among Big West athletes this season.

Cal Poly sophomore Kaylene Wagner (Goleta, Calif.) was named Big West Female Field Athlete of the Week. The Mustang leaper set a new school record by clearing 6-02.75 at the Fresno State 3-way meet. It set a new personal career-high as well as the top mark in the Big West this season. Utah State senior Josh Sides (Kaysville, Utah) was named Big West Male Field Athlete of the Week after placing third in the hammer (191-11) and shot put (55-01.50) events at the Boise State Invitational. He also took fourth place in the discus throw with a 151-02 distance. Sides currently ranks third in the conference in the shot put and hammer throw events. His marks in the hammer and shot put qualified him for the NCAA Regionals.
