Fresh off his third career Big West Men's Volleyball Player of the Week award, Hawai'i junior opposite Rado Parapunov earned his first Sports Imports/Amercan Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Player of the week honor, Tuesday.
The 6-foot-nine opposite helped the 'Bows extend their unbeaten set-streak to 36 for the first-time in program history.
Parapunov led UH to a pair of sweeps on the road at No. 3 UC Irvine and bested all players with 34 total kills while recording hitting percentages of .387 and .565, respectively. The opposite tallied four blocks in both matches and tied for the second-most on the squad in the first match with six digs.
The Sofia, Bulgaria native averaged 5.67 kills per set while hitting .463 and added two aces in the second match on the weekend. Parapunov ranks fourth nationally with 18 aces on the year.
Overall, Parapunov leads the Rainbow Warriors with a 4.07 kill average, hitting .513 on the year, which ranks No. 2 nationally.
