UC San Diego Sweeps Men's Volleyball Accolades

COLLIN SHANNON, UC SAN DIEGO • MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore • Opposite • Westwood, Calif. • Harvard-Westlake School 

• Collin Shannon is the Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week after leading UC San Diego to a split on its Bay Area road trip.

• The 6-foot-7 opposite topped the team in points per set (4.58), kills per set (4.00) and hitting percentage (.452) as the Tritons swept UC Santa Cruz before falling in three sets to No. 8 Stanford.

• Shannon posted 11 kills on .588 (11-1-17) hitting against the Banana Slugs, adding eight digs, an ace and three block assists.

• He had a team-high 13 kills to go along with an assist, an ace and a dig against the Cardinal. He hit .360 (13-4-25) against Stanford.

RYAN LEW, UC SAN DIEGO • MEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

• UC San Diego junior Ryan Lew garnered Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolades for his role in a road split.

• Lew averaged 2.83 digs per set to help the Tritons finish 1-1 in the Bay Area.

• He tallied a match-high 11 digs at UC Santa Cruz in a three-set victory.

• Lew had six digs and two assists in a loss to No. 8 Stanford. He turned in a 1.000 reception percentage against the Cardinal.

BLAKE CRISP, UC SAN DIEGO • MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Setter • Westlake Village, Calif. • Westlake HS

• UC San Diego setter Blake Crisp notched Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week honors after piling up 62 assists over six sets in a Bay Area jaunt.

• He averaged 10.33 assists per set with 34 against UC Santa Cruz and 28 more versus No. 8 Stanford. The Tritons split the two matches highlighted by a straight set win over the Slugs.

• The setter helped UCSD hit .264 at UC Santa Cruz. He added an ace and five digs against the Slugs.

• He had two more digs against Stanford.
