ICYMI: Here are the top five things that happened in the Big West last week….In Case You Missed It!

1. UC Irvine Rains Threes on Denver; Rewrites Record Books

UC Irvine hit a school and Bren Events Center record 18 three-pointers in a 86-52 victory over Denver Saturday. Six different Anteaters knocked down a shot beyond the arc, including Max Hazzard who went 10-17 from long range on his way to a career-high 32 points.  Full Story

2. Big West Trio Earn All-America Recognition

A week after being named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region, a trio of Big West Conference women’s volleyball players were tabbed AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.  Torrey and Adlee Van Winden, from Cal Poly, were named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Team last week, with Torrey earning her third accolade and Adlee picking up her first all-region honor. Representing the Big West on the 2018 AVCA All-Pacific South Region Team, UC Santa Barbara’s Lindsey Ruddins collected her third consecutive AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honor. Full Story

3. Big West Announces FloVolleyball Will Also Carry Men’s Volleyball Docuseries

The Big West Conference is excited to announce that FloVolleyball.tv will also carry the upcoming docuseries, Legacy: Long Beach State.  Fans will be able to watch all five episodes on the site throughout the season as cameras follow the defending national champions.  The Big West is pleased to work with FloVolleyball in this capacity, as the docuseries continues to make history for the league.

4. #BigWestCares: Stuff-A-Bus, Again!

On December 14, the Big West Conference participated in the annual Spark of Love Stuff-A-Bus Toy Drive hosted by ABC7 and Southland Firefighters at Honda Center.  Spark of Love’s Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for children and teens in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties. Over the past 26 years, Spark of Love has collected more than ten million toys.

5. Former LBSU Player Joins MLB Staff

Congratulations to former Dirtbag Brandon Hyde, who was just named the new manager of the Baltimore Orioles!
