1. Reigning National Champion Long Beach State Tabbed No. 1 In AVCA Preseason Poll
The Big West Conference had three representatives in the top four of the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll Thursday, led by a No. 1 ranking from reigning men’s volleyball national champion Long Beach State. The Beach was a unanimous selection for the top spot, earning all 16 first-place votes for 240 points. Full Story

2. Commissioners Cup Fall Standings Feature Dead Heat At The Top
The fall season featured something never before seen at the top of the Commissioner’s Cup standings, a tie atop the ledger between Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. The Central Coast rivals each compiled a point average of 134.0 after the first season of competition. The Mustangs were buoyed by a sweep of the cross country titles as well as the women’s volleyball championship, while the Gauchos posted top three finishes in men’s cross country, women’s soccer, men’s soccer and had top four finishes in women’s volleyball and women’s cross country. 3. Seven Big West Players Named United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region
The Big West Conference placed seven men’s soccer players on the All-Far West Region teams, announced by United Soccer Coaches on Wednesday. Led by seniors Roy Boateng of UC Davis and Ivan Canales of UC Irvine, members of the first team, a total of four Big West schools were represented at the regional level. Full Story
4. Big West Trio Represented On AVCA All-Region List
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its 2018 AVCA All-Region Teams today and three Big West Conference student-athletes were named to the list. Torrey and Adlee Van Winden from Cal Poly were named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Team, with Torrey earning her third accolade and Adlee picking up her first all-region honor. Last year Adlee was selected for the All-Pacific North Regional Honorable Mention team. For the second straight year, representing the Big West on the AVCA All-Pacific South Region Team, is UC Santa Barbara’s Lindsey Ruddins. Full Story
5. Records Fall As Aggies Swat Hornets In Causeway Clash
Senior biomedical engineering major Morgan Bertsch finished with a school single-game record 40 points to lead 11 different players in the scoring column and visiting UC Davis set or tied five other single-game team marks on Friday night, helping the Aggies roll to a 109-60 victory over Causeway rival Sacramento State at The Nest.
