Daschian, Izzo Cross Season's Finish Line at NCAA Championships


Cal Poly's Katie Izzo and Miranda Daschian finished their seasons at the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisconsin.

Braving temperatures in the 20's and a light snow Saturday morning, the Cal Poly junior duo of Katie Izzo and Miranda Daschian concluded the 2018 season in Madison, Wisconsin at the #ncaaXC Cross Country Championships.

Izzo crossed the finish line in 20:58.08, while Daschian, the 2018 Big West Athlete of the Year and individual champion, completed the 6K course in 21:09.41.  Izzo's time was good for 82nd overall, while Daschian ranked 112th among the 253 runners.

Colorado senior Dani Jones surprised the field by claiming the individual title in 19:42.8, ahead of New Mexico's Weini Kelati (19:45.3).  Jones' finish led the Buffaloes to the NCAA title, their 65 points outpacing New Mexico's 103.
