Hazzard Earns First Career Weekly Men's Hoops Honor

Junior Max Hazzard earned his first career Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award, providing a pair of standout performances and helping his UC Irvine squad to a 2-0 start.

• Hazzard averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Anteaters collected wins over Idaho and Texas A&M.

• He shot 50.0% from the field on 11-of-22 shooting, including 57.1% (8-of-14) from three-point territory.

• Hazzard hit three triples and finished with 11 points, three rebounds and five assists in a season-opening 86-68 triumph over Idaho.  He did not commit a turnover in 26 minutes.

• The Anteaters downed Texas A&M, 74-73, on the road behind Hazzard’s team-high 19 points.  It was UCI’s first win over an SEC school since defeating South Carolina in 2006.

• The guard drained a career-high tying five three-pointers against the Aggies – three of them in the second half – as the ‘Eaters overcame a 14-point deficit with 18:02 to go in the game.

• Hazzard shot 7-of-13 from the field against Texas A&M while chipping in four rebounds and two assists.

• Dating to last season, UCI has won six consecutive road games, the fifth-longest active streak in Division I.
