BIG WEST AT A GLANCE

CELEBRATING 50/35
The 2018-19season marks the 50th anniversary for men’s sports in the Big West Conference, and the 35th for women’s.  All season long, the Big West Conference will celebrate the history of all conference-sports sports.  Join us as we pay homage to the student-athletes, coaches, staffs, communities and fans who have helped pave the way.

RIVERSIDE REMAINS PERFECT
After starting the season with a 2-2-2 mark a year ago, UC Riverside remains perfect at 5-0 for the first time since 2004 when the Highlanders opened the campaign at 9-0.  The Highlanders haven’t dropped a regular season match since Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 versus Long Beach State when the Beach defeated the Highlanders 3-0 at George Allen Field.   UCR is the only undefeated team in the Big West.

RIVERSIDE DOMINATES ON DEFENSE
UC Riverside has not allowed a goal through its first five matches and is one of just 13 teams in the nation to boast a .000 goals against average.  The Highlanders pace the Big West with five clean sheets.

IN THE POLLS
For the third-straight week, Long Beach State is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national weekly poll.    The Beach faced two ranked opponents last week in No. 16 Texas and No. 17 Auburn.  For the first time this sesaon, UC Santa Barbara is receiving votes in the national, Top Drawer Soccer Poll.

GAUCHOS DEFEAT CAL IN HISTORIC FASHION
UC Santa Barbara defeated Cal 3-2 in overtime last week to make history. UCSB’s victory was the first win by a non-conference opponent at Edwards Stadium since September 12, 2014 when then-No. 7 Texas Tech defeated then-No. 11 Cal 1-0.

BIG WEST TOURNAMENT LOCATION
UC Irvine will host the 2018 Big West women’s soccer tournament should the Anteaters qualify for the league’s posts
eason tourney from November 1-4.
