Rodriguez, Yanez Earn Softball Weekly Accolades
Hannah Rodriguez led UC Riverside to a conference series sweep, while Brooke Yanez guided UC Davis to an upset win over No. 17 Long Beach State.

➜ UC Riverside junior Hannah Rodriguez led her squad to its first conference series sweep of the season with .700 hitting, garnering her first career Big West Softball Field Player of the Week honor.
➜ Rodriguez went 7-for-10 at the plate to fuel a Highlander offense that outscored UC Santa Barbara 36-14 in three wins. UCR’s previous best output for a three-game league series was 11 runs scored.
➜ The shortstop had at least one run, two hits and one RBI in all three games against the Gauchos.
➜ Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the 13-11 game one victory. Her sac fly capped off a seven-run outburst in the first inning.
➜ In game two, Rodriguez enjoyed a 3-for-4 effort with three RBIs an added a stolen base in UCR’s 9-3 triumph. Her second inning single gave the Highlanders a 4-0 lead and proved to be the game-winning RBI.
➜ Rodriguez closed the series going 2-for-3 with a double and three more RBIs as the Highlanders cruised to a 14-0, run-rule victory on Senior Day. She doubled in two runs in the second inning and drove in UCR’s 14th run via a sac fly.
➜ She also was perfect fielding her shortstop position.

BROOKE YANEZ, UC DAVIS – PITCHER OF THE WEEK

➜ Earning her third Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week citation this season, UC Davis freshman Brooke Yanez took down No. 17 Long Beach State with a brilliant performance in a 12-inning game.
➜ The southpaw limited the Big West’s top offense to one run in pitching all 12 innings of a 2-1 victory. The complete-game effort established a Division I era record for longest stint by a pitcher, breaking the previous record of 10.2 innings in 2015.
➜ The 12-inning affair represented the third-longest game (in terms of innings) in program history and the sixth-longest game in the program’s recorded history.
➜ Yanez walked three and struck out six to pick up her 14th win of the year.
➜ Yanez returned in the rubber game of the series, going the distance again in a 4-0 loss. She has tossed 22 complete games in 24 starts – the most since Jessica Hancock’s D1 record in 2008. Yanez allowed five hits and just two earned runs to the Beach in the finale.
