BIG WEST AT A GLANCE

TITANS ON A TEAR

After sweeping Hawai‘i on the island on its fourth roadtrip of the year, Cal State Fullerton moved to 11-1 in league to remain in sole possession of first place in the Big West standings.  With a 3-0 mark on the weekend, the Titans recorded its third sweep in conferencec play and fourth-straight series win.  The Titans head home to host UC Davis for a three-game series starting Saturday.  The Titans will take on the Aggies as Davis comes off of back-to-back losses after a midweek showdown versus California.

FULLERTON’S FORD REACHES MILESTONE
With Saturday’s sweep of the Rainbow Wahine, Cal State Fullerton’s Kelly Ford recorded her 200th victory at the helm for the Titans.  Ford is now 16th all-time in Big West history with 201 victories.  She is also sixth for most career wins among active coaches.

NO. 17 LONG BEACH STATE SWEEPS
Long Beach State recorded a perfect weekend on the road at UC Santa Barbara as the Beach took three straight over the Gauchos.  LBSU improved to 10-2 in league and 36-9 overall and received a top-20 rank in the national polls for the fifth-straight week.  The Beach has appeared in the USA Today/NFCA Poll for 10-straight weeks.

CAL POLY RECORDS PERFECT WEEKEND
Cal Poly recorded its first Big West series sweep at home versus CSUN and won four-straight for the first time since May when CP mounted a six-game win-streak.  The Mustangs currently sit tied for third-place in the conference standings at 6-6 and share the spot with UC Davis.  The Mustangs hit the road and travel south to Long Beach for a three-game series beginning, Saturday. 

ROWLAND CONTINUES INCHES CLOSER TO RECORD
Long Beach State sophomore, Taylor Rowland continues to climb in the Big West record book with 55 runs batted in this season.  Her 55 RBI tie for fifth-most in a single season in the conference record book and the sophomore is just four away from tying the all-time league mark at 59.  The Beach has nine games remaining on its regular season schedule.

AMONG THE NATION’S BEST
The Big West ranks in the top 20 in multiple categories this season. Cal State Fullerton ranks fourth in the NCAA with 0.63 double plays per contest.  Long Beach State comes in at sixth-best in the nation with 1.73 doubles per game.   With a 0.317 batting average LBSU is 15th-best and its 0.974 fielding percentage is 18th-best.

ESPN3 TO FEATURE BIG WEST SOFTBALL
Cal State Fullerton will host its second ESPN3 doubleheader on Saturday, April 28 against upstart UC Davis.  Softball coverage concludes on Saturday, May 12 with a single game at CSUN’s Matador Diamond against visiting Long Beach State.
