Top-Seeded UC Davis Slips Past UC Riverside




Sophomore economics major Joe Mooney scored 12 of his career-high 15 points before halftime (a total that was half the points scored by all UC Riverside players combined at halftime), and junior communication major TJ Shorts II hit two free throws in the final second (literally), to help UC Davis advance to Friday's semifinal round, thanks to a 70-66 victory in Thursday's Big West Tournament quarterfinal.

In addition to winning all three games against the Highlanders this season, the Aggies have now won 10 of their last 12 overall, eight of the last nine head-to-head games vs. UCR, and will enter Friday's 6:30 p.m. semifinal with a 22-9 overall record.

CSF Advances To Semis With Two-Point Win Over Rival LBSU



Cal State Fullerton men's basketball will play in the semifinal round of the Big West Tournament for the second straight year after defeating Long Beach State by a score of 76-74 on Thursday afternoon. The Titans entered the game with a 1-8 record against LBSU in the conference tournament, last defeating them in 1978.

Late Comeback Sends UC Irvine to Big West Tournament Semifinals




Sophomore Max Hazzard hit the game-winning jumper with seven seconds remaining to lift third-seeded UC Irvine to 68-67 victory over sixth-seeded Hawai'i in a Big West Tournament quarterfinal game Thursday at the Honda Center.  UCI (17-16) will play at approximately 9 p.m. Friday, March 9 .

Gauchos Crush Cal Poly in Big West Tournament Quarterfinal, 75-53



The first three Big West Conference quarterfinal games on Friday at Honda Center were decided by a combined seven points. UC Santa Barbara made sure the fourth game didn't have as much drama, posting a 75-53 win over Cal Poly.
The Gauchos (23-8) raced out to a convincing 45-18 halftime lead and never looked back as they tied the school record for wins in a season one year after setting a school record for losses in a season with 22.
