Cal Poly junior Dominic Bechard and UC Santa Barbara senior Palina Dubavets anchored their squads at the top of the singles lineups to capture Big West Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.

Bechard Goes 4-0 in Singles and Doubles

Playing at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles, Bechard helped the Mustangs shutout a pair of opponents at home, knocking off Saint Mary’s (4-0) and UC Santa Cruz (7-0).

Bechard routed Saint Mary’s counterpart Nash Vollenweiler by scores of 6-2, 6-1 and combined with partner Karl Enander to win at No. 3 doubles, beating the Gael tandem of Matis Bot and Chambers Easterling, 6-4.

Against the Banana Slugs, Bechard had a tougher time dispatching his opponent but earned a three-set triumph – 6-3, 6-7, 10-3 – over Magnus Ibh.  Bechard and Enander won their doubles match, 6-1.
