Shorts II Helps UC Davis Clinch Regular Season Title

UC Davis junior guard TJ Shorts II, fresh off earning the Big West Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards, added another honor to his list with his second Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolade.
➜ TJ Shorts II played a large role in landing UC Davis its second Big West regular season championship in four seasons, earning his second career Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor.
➜ The 5-foot-9 guard scored 21 points apiece in wins over Hawai‘i (70-59) and UC Irvine (90-84 in 2OT). The win over the Anteaters was in a winner-take-all atmosphere at the Bren Events Center, as both schools entered the game tied for first place at 11-4 in Big West play.
➜ Shorts II finished with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals against the Anteaters. He made a key steal with 27 seconds left in OT, which led to a pair of free throws and tied the score at 79.
➜ Shorts II also scored 15 of his 21 points against UCI after halftime.
➜ In the win over UH, Shorts made 6-of-10 floor shots and all eight of his free throw attempts. He chipped in four assists and four steals.
➜ Shorts II has six 20-point games in his last eight. The Big West steals leader accumulated seven in the two wins for a 3.5 average.
