Women’s Tennis Conference Matches Highlight Schedule
Off to a 7-2 start, the UC Davis women’s tennis team embarks on its first Big West roadtrip of the season with contests against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.

The Aggies earned an impressive home victory over defending Big West regular season champion Hawai‘i on Feb. 13.  Two more victories this week would put UC Davis in one of the favorite’s roles to capture this year’s league crown.  UC Davis has never won a Big West regular season crown.  Its best finishes included a tie for second in 2012 and a third place showing in 2011.

Sophomore Nikita Pradeep, the reigning Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week, is 8-0 in dual matches playing between the No. 3 and No. 4 positions in the lineup.

A two-time defending Big West Tournament champion – and a second place finisher each of the last two years in the regular season standings – UC Santa Barbara is off to a 3-6 start overall but has yet to play a conference match.  The Gauchos have played four top-20 programs.  UCSB hosts a Big West doubleheader on Saturday, meeting UC Davis first at 10:30 a.m. followed by UC Riverside at 2:00 p.m.

UC Davis takes on a Cal Poly team that looks to end a four-match losing streak on Sunday.

Cal Poly Men Enter Oracle/ITA Top 50
Cal Poly’s 6-3 start to the season has allowed the team to enter the top 50 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.  The Mustangs rank No. 44 in this week’s poll.  In 2017, Cal Poly ended the season ranked No. 49 in the country.  The team has a chance to build upon that ranking with a tough road match against No. 42 Loyola Marymount on Friday.

UC Santa Barbara Players Ranked In Singles, Doubles
UC Santa Barbara junior Nicolas Moreno de Alboran is ranked No. 114 nationally in the ITA singles poll.  The Gaucho women’s tandem of Natalie da Silveira and Palina Dubavets is ranked No. 57 in the ITA doubles poll.

Zeidan Ranked In Women’s Singles
Cal State Fullerton freshman Genevieve Zeidan is ranked No. 103 in the latest Oracle/ITA singles poll.  The native of Taipei, Taiwan, boasts a 7-1 record while shuffling between the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions in the lineup.  She is 5-0 in the No. 2 slot.  The Titans battle both San Francisco and Santa Clara on the road this week.
