DeFalco Earns National Player Of The Week Honors
Long Beach State junior TJ DeFalco captured his third career Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week honor after leading the top-ranked Beach to a four-set win over No. 2 UCLA.
The 6-foot-4 outside hitter hit .419 (17-4-31) in the match as LBSU won by set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 in front of a Walter Pyramid record crowd of 4,560 spectators. In addition to producing his season-high in kills, he also notched season-bests in digs (12) and blocks (5), cementing his 11th career double-double.
DeFalco's five total blocks (one solo) helped LBSU hold UCLA to its lowest hitting percentage (.191) of the season. In addition, UCLA's 15 points in set two represented the lowest point total in a set this season for the Bruins.
Named the Big West Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week for his performance, DeFalco helped the Beach improve to 13-0 as they are the lone unbeaten team in NCAA Division I-II.
This is the 29th time in program history an LBSU student-athlete has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week accolades.
