Junior TJ Shorts II led UC Davis to a crucial road sweep of Central Coast foes Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara to scoop up his first career Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week award.

➜ TJ Shorts II captured his first career Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award – backed by a triple-double – as he helped UC Davis forge a 2-0 roadtrip on the Central Coast.

➜ The 5-foot-9 guard collected 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Aggies to a, 92-84, triple overtime victory at Cal Poly on Thursday.

➜ Shorts II achieved the first triple-double by an Aggie since March 1, 2008, and played a game-high 50 minutes.  He recorded the first triple-double by a Big West player since Hawaii’s Roderick Bobbitt on Nov. 19, 2014 against Hawaii-Hilo.

➜ The junior was instrumental in ending UC Santa Barbara’s 11-game home court winning streak, notching 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting in a 71-54 victory on Saturday.

➜ It was the eighth 20-point performance of the season for Shorts II, who ranks tied for sixth in the Big West in that category.

➜ Shorts II scored 10 points during a 23-6 surge to help put the game out of reach.

➜ He added five rebounds, six assists and a steal, and hit his only attempt from three.  He also helped hold UCSB to a season-low point total on defense.

➜ Shorts II shot 52.4% (11-of-21) from the field and 77.8% (7-of-9) from the free throw line for the week.
