1. CSUN Women’s Basketball Hands UC Davis First Conference Loss

CSUN broke UC Davis’ 18-game Big West Conference women’s basketball winning streak Saturday night as the Matadors defeated the Aggies 75-71 in overtime. Full Story

2. Cal State Fullerton Selected To Claim Both Baseball And Softball Big West Titles

The Cal State Fullerton Titans have been selected to claim the 2018 Big West Conference Baseball Championship, according to the nine conference coaches that voted on the Big West baseball preseason poll.   The Titans earned six first-place votes en route to a total of 73 points. Full Story

Cal State Fullerton earned the nod of 2018 softball favorite among the league’s coaches for this year’s Big West title. The Titans claimed four first place votes for 57 points as it earned the top spot in the preseason poll.   Full Story

3. UC Davis Men’s Basketball Downs Long Beach State, 105-104 2OT, To Tie For First

Of the career-high 31 points scored by junior communication major TJ Shorts II in Saturday’s Big West Conference game at Long Beach State, none were bigger than the three featured in the video below because those points, scored with two seconds remaining in double overtime, lifted UC Davis to a 105-104 victory. 4. Hawai’i Women’s Water Polo Sweeps Top 25 Opponents, Upsets No. 5 Arizona State

The No. 6 University of Hawai’i water polo team (5-1) showed up strong to open action at the ASU Cross Conference Challenge, producing a two-game sweep on Saturday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex. The Rainbow Wahine started the day with an upset victory over host No. 5 Arizona State (4-1), later coming out on top in a defensive shootout against No. 16 UC San Diego (2-4). Full Story

5. Brittany Hochevar Named Long Beach Century Club Female Athlete of the Year

For the last 62 years, the Long Beach Century Club has honored the best athletes, coaches and citizen volunteers at its annual Sports Night banquet — on Monday the club had one of the finest events it’s ever put on. A blockbuster Hall of Fame class of water polo Olympians was inducted, and Athletes of the Year JuJu Smith-Schuster and Brittany Hochevar gave entertaining, moving speeches.  Full Story
