Van Winden, Bolko, Costello Earn Women's Volleyball Honors
Recipients of the week three women's volleyball awards each earned all-tournament honors.
Bolko Surpasses 1,000 Career Digs
Van Winden Named All-Tournament at Nike Classic
Cal Poly sophomore Torrey Van Winden (Napa, Calif./Vintage HS) earned her second straight Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week award with a monster performance at the Oregon Nike Classic.
The sophomore outside hitter averaged 5.45 kills per set while hitting .353 as the Mustangs posted a 2-1 record.
Van Winden totaled 60 kills and just 11 errors in 139 attempts to help Cal Poly defeat Duquesne and No. 23 Wichita State, and compete strongly versus No. 14 Oregon.
Van Winden pounded a career-high 30 kills on .348 hitting in a five-set win over the Shockers. It was the fifth-highest kill total in a match in the country this year. She had nine kills alone in the fourth set. Van Winden added 16 digs for her second double-double of the season.
She tallied 12 kills against the Ducks and notched 18 more against the Dukes. Van Winden hit .425 (18-1-40) against Duquesne to go along with four digs and a pair of blocks.
Van Winden has recorded double-digit kills in all nine matches this year.

UC Davis junior Malia Bolko (Benicia, Calif./St. Patrick-St. Vincent HS) racked up four straight matches of 20 or more digs to capture her fourth career Big West Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award.
The libero collected 93 digs across 17 sets for a 5.47 digs per set average to anchor the Aggie defense.
Bolko earned a spot on the UC Davis Invitational All-Tournament squad with performances of 20, 23 and 23 digs against Portland State, Boise State and Santa Clara, respectively. She averaged 5.50 digs per set for the tournament.
Near the end of Friday’s match against Portland State, Bolko became just the ninth player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 dig mark for her career.
She collected a season-best 27 digs with 10 assists in a Causeway Cup rivalry match against Sacramento State earlier in the week.

Costello Leads Titans at Towson Tiger Invitational
Cal State Fullerton libero Savahna Costello (Riverside, Calif./La Sierra HS) totaled 73 digs in four matches to claim Big West Women’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week accolades.
Costello provided steady defense for the Titans at the Towson Tiger Invitational, helping steer them to a 2-2 record. She earned all-tournament honors after averaging 5.21 digs per set.
Her top performance came against Eastern Michigan as she tallied 27 digs, her second-best single-match total this season.
Costello registered 18 digs against host Towson and 12 more in a sweep of Lafayette. She ended the tournament with 16 scoops in a four-set victory over Quinnipiac.
In addition, Costello strung together three straight matches with three aces, as she averaged 0.64 aces per set for the tourney.
